bhagban is a gr8 movie…i am sure nobody will be upset
Sanjeev Kumar who played Thakur is no more.. He passed away in 1980s as relatively young age .. one of our finest actors.
after watching this movie my father got so emotional that he said if you forget us we will understand. I was just in 7th standard. I wanted to reply but didn’t because they were living the moment of baghban and till date my father thinks this movie deserves oscar.
Hi, Soumya – this is Tish! I think I agree with your dad – this movie deserves an Oscar! Did it win any Indian film awards?
it was a big hit at that time. as far as i can recollect it was nominated in almost every award in 2004
One of the Best dialogues of the movie was at the end by Big B when he says : “Zindagi Seerhi ki tarah Uper Nahi Jaati…. Balki Perh ki Tarah Ugti hai” which in English means – Life is not a Ladder that goes from Down to Up,… Rather Grows like a Tree”
Hi, Hardeep – this is Tish! Yes, I loved that 🙂
Hey Tish, I knew you’d like this movie. It’s one of Big B’s best. What is also great is that they didn’t give it a sugary happy ending with everyone is forgiven and they all lived happily ever after! It was a brilliant ending they cut those ingrates out of their lives. Try to see Big B’s Black and Paa next. Paa has Vidya Balan playing his mom and his real life son Abhishek Bachchan playing his dad! Superb acting in both films and both films won him the best actor awards. Just a bit of advice about your upcoming reviews of veerapaan and Lucknow Central, both films didn’t do well and aren’t that great, so give them a miss. As you’ll never get those hours back in your life! Lol There are far far better films you can spend your time watching. Finally a big hello to Big J as well aka Professor! 😄
Hi, Sunny – this is Tish! Hooray! Thanks so much for the link! We’re going to be very busy this week – our son is moving out on his own and we’ll be helping him get settled. As soon as we have a chance, we will watch this 🙂
Hey Tish, No worries, watch it when you have time. Kids….huh?? lol You have to do everything for them. Let’s hope your son appreciates you both …. unlike the ingrates in Baghban …. otherwise just make him watch the movie to see what will happen when mom and dad become super rich from their YouTube channel! Hahaha I’m sure he appreciates you 🙂
Hey Tish, here’s the link to one of Big B’s best performances. It’s a 2005 film called BLACK, which I’ve suggested before. https://youtu.be/97joWcX1w7Q It’s loosely based on the Helen Keller story. I watched it last night after suggesting it to you. I still welled up and ended up with a smile on my face, after all these years. You will really, really love this movie. Can’t wait for your reaction on the film and Big B’s performance which won him so many accolades along with the leading actress Rani Mukerjee. Enjoy
Hi, Sunny – this is Tish! Jeremy has mentioned “Black” also. This is on our long list of movies that we need to watch 🙂
Hey Tish, move Black to the top of the list. I think you’ll like it a lot and you won’t have to read the subtitles as much, as they speak in English a lot also a bit in Hindi. Or as we say … it’s in Hinglish! 🙂 Enjoy. PS I hope the move with your son is going well.
it is a good movie.
