This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In June of 2013, the Brazilian streets became scenes of protest. Our next speaker, armed with smart phones and cameras, brought the sights and sounds of these protests to the world’s attention. Together with his group of citizen-journalists, Midia Ninja, he broadcasted the narrative of the Brazilian people.
Bruno Torturra is a journalist and coordinator of Midia Ninja, an independent group of journalists known for sociopolitical activism. This group was notable for its “no cuts – no censorship” coverage of the 2013 nationwide protests in Brazil.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
