Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez Encourages Vietnamese Citizen Journalists Blocked from Travel

Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-46) and Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (CA-19), co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Vietnam, are hosting a congressional briefing to discuss Vietnam's oppressive media environment on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.

Entitled "Media Freedom in Vietnam," the briefing will provide a platform for American and Vietnamese journalists and bloggers, civil rights activists and diplomats to discuss the growing hostile and oppressive environment for both traditional and online media, as well as free expression, in Vietnam.

Unfortunately, three of the invitees, Nguyen Lan Thang, Pham Chi Dung and Anna Huyen Trang, were blocked from attending by Hanoi authorities.

What do you think?

  1. Loretta, give it up. Everyone knows you were a young dumb teenager when the U.S puppet Saigon regime fell to the Vietnamese People’s Army, apparently it is safe to say the U.S defeat in Vietnam flew over your head. Continuing the Vietnam War on a diplomatic scale on behalf of the deposed butchers of the Saigon regime in Orange County is a waste of time. As a Chicana, perhaps you should pay attention human rights abuses in cartel-ruled Mexico.
