Amindeh Blaise Atabong is a freelance reporter in Yaounde, Cameroon, who says he felt “pushed” into journalism as a mission to expose his country’s corrupt politicians and the poverty they perpetuate.
Although it’s early in his career, he has already reported from a conflict zone, covering one of the region’s most fearsome terror groups, Boko Haram, and won recognition for his work on corruption. His reporting, for which he says he has been repeatedly assaulted and arrested, has taken him across borders into Nigeria and the Central African Republic.
