Citizen journalist Nydia Tisdale was forcibly removed and arrested by Dawson County Sheriff’s Capt. Tony Wooten for video recording political speeches at an open-to-the-public campaign rally held at Burt’s pumpkin farm on Saturday, August 23, 2014.

  2. Photography at a public event on private property is no different than photography on a city sidewalk or city park. 1st Amendment protections apply to freedom of expression and press.

    • This is correct. When you announce and advertise an event is open to the general public to attend, then you cannot restrict their 1st amendment rights.
      If the event holder obtained a permit and it was a permitted event, then the permit holder or a duly authorized agent of the permit holder could have the right to bar photography, restrict entry or eject anyone at any time for any reason.
