What do you think?

    • Brother, at the end of the day all the CEO said was let me get back to you, he knew he couldn’t simply say no. The question totally make sense, why put so much effort into his mimics to make the CM look stupid (looks like he’s addressing a child) when all he could have said is “no”, and btw if I’m connected to your wifi it is utterly easy to get a scan of all connected devices, but yh support the data farms, they’re so edgy and quirky

    • If you think the question was dumb, why didn’t the CEO refute the claim that it can access other devices on the network??

He said he didn’t know. How could the head of the entire company not know for sure if the app access other devices on the network 🤯🤯

What’s even more mind boggling is thousands of commentators on here all missed this question and out of an abundance of confidence, call the person asking this stupid.

    • The first question was silly. But he corrected it later by asking if TikTok could try to access other devices connected to the same network which was a legitimate question. Nothing stupid there. If TikTok from a child’s device introduces Trojans into all devices that are connected to the same network, then it could get access to the dad’s or mom’s work laptop 😮😮

    • its actually not stupid. look at yourself in the mirror and think about what he is trying to ask… Its about accessing other devices beyond internet..
by accessing he means if the app does anything about those devices which it has no need to.

    • Been in cybersecurity for years, the question is not stupid just because you do not understand. Tiktok (and countless other apps) will access your network, they can monitor your traffic the same as your ISP will. Typically big companies like this will collect this data, save it and then use it to personalize ads or content you receive. Congress is worried that in Tiktok’s case, they are collecting this data and then selling it back to the Chinese government. That is essentially the question he is asking.

    • @@newdawnfades263you didn’t understand the question he asked. But he could of phrase it better.

He was asking IF tiktok could access other devices connected to the same wifi network. Think of it like how Bluetooth can discover your wireless device by pairing/ syncing with it, but on the WLAN network instead, open connection devices with no security can be discovered and accessed.

This was a very valid technical question but it was not worded correctly, and notice how the ceo said he would get back to him on that if its a technical question, he understood.

    • I knew exactly what the congressman was trying to ask. It’s the question that needs to be asked but that the CEO will do anything to dance around. The CEO is going to do anything he can to avoid admitting the extreme anti-privacy practices that TikTok uses.

  1. My former English teacher, who was a kind old man, told me that many members of the U.S. Congress lacked basic knowledge of science and engineering. Now I believe it.

    • It’s the normals in Singapore vs America these senators sound so rude and bitter while asking these ridiculous questions meanwhile Mr chew answers politely the American culture is showing a lot here
