Is the One Nation, One Poll system all its cracked up to be? On Monday, BJP Chief Amit Shah wrote a letter to the Law Commission, saying that the system would be less expensive than multiple polls and that due to elections in states throughout the year, developmental works get affected. Meanwhile, senior Congress leaders, Mallikarjun Kharge, P Chidambaram and Kapil Sibal reportedly told the Law Commission that simultaneous Lok Sabha and state polls were against the federal nature of India and would give way to a Presidential style of elections. Amit Shah has said that he is ready for a debate on simultaneous polls but is the Congress unprepared for one?
