Absolutely unbelievable footage. Thank goodness those guys are alright.
I Believe it👍💯
📷 man never dies
They should have just turned right and avoided the tornado entirely
@@sly9263they can’t do that 😂, trains run on track if there’s no track it can’t go, lol, there is only straight track in front for them
@@watchvideosok7441 Pretty sure it’s a joke, because obvious is obvious.
That’s probably the safest place for them to be in that situation
Yea being in a 200 ton block of metal is generally the best place to be in any situation like that. Another reason trains are the superior mode of transport.
Y
@Razziquet Locamotive Maybe; Railcar not so much…..
@@tomg1066 more than half YouTube would vote hammer ..the news
a storm chasers dream having a locomotive to hang out in when a tornado comes through.
“should we step away from the windows” in the most understatement way. Glad they are safe but what a wild capture.
Right lol I’d be ducked down in the corner, with my arms over my face
…it’s scary how stupid people can be….holy crap
@@joeshmoe-rl7bk I don’t think it was stupid. Train guys can be analytical
@@SF-zc3mmshut up
and go were?
It’s not THAT the wind is blowing… It’s WHAT the wind is blowing….
Yes, but they calmly ducked down for a tornado but would be jumping their railroading behinds out into the rocks and running if another train was coming.
If you get hit by a Volvo it doesn’t matter how many sit-ups you did that morning.
Ron white 😂😂😂😂😂😂
George Carlin…RIP
It will be blowing you if you were out there
Being a heavy metal locomotive in a tornado is probably best case scenario
Yep, if it can move that thing, there’s nothing in the world that would have protected you
If your above ground
That was small tornado. Probably and f-1 or f-2 . A f-4 or f-5 will lift that train off the tracks.
A tornado F5 back about a hundred years ago derailed a steam locomotive. They were just as heavy modern locomotives.
@@russellwhitmyer6764Do you know if the engine stayed upright?
My son-in-law is an engineer. He always told me the safest place to be in a tornado would be a train engine or cab or whatever you call it. He was right.
Locomotive
I’d say underground is safer and I’m not an engineer
If it didn’t have windows maybe
Unless it’s an EF-5.
@@heywoodfloyd9I think you still survive even the worst tornado. The locomotive might get pushed over but it isn’t going to be picked up and thrown. It’s just too heavy.
They say a tornado sounds like a train coming… there’s a joke here, but I just don’t have it
😂😂😂😂
*train stopped;
Engineer to conductor: “hey Steve, do you hear a train coming on the other set of tracks? I swear they were closed for maintenance…”
Was thinking the same thing. Glad I’m not alone lol😂😂😂
It’s the Spiderman meme of *train noises*
If a train gets sucked up by a tornado and nobody hears it, does it make a sound?
That’s probably one of the few places you can watch a direct hit from a tornado relatively safely!
I work for the railroad. They always told us that if a tornado shows up. Don’t go inside a building, go inside a locomotive and lock the door. Those things are stronger than a tank. I’m surprised the side window broke. The front windows are bulletproof. They are about five layers thick. I literally seen rife rounds stuck in them.
Idk about stronger than a tank, but I’ve definitely turned some trees into toothpicks at 40 MPH and barely felt it. Gotta love a wide body.
@@trb_8390 Most road engines are heavier then tanks from what I know. The cabs are designed with keeping the crew safe in most situations
My old boss was shot at while running a train through the Bronx early 1970s.
@@vibratingstringsounds about right. Hope he was ok.

Most Nebraska thing I’ve ever heard, ” The tornado is right over us, hold on.” 😂
As a fellow Nebraskan I love tornado watching❤
@@MichaelaLogsdonhere between grand island and Lincoln, we don’t get tornados for some reason. Storms always steer clear.
@@MrChilili in between Hastings and superior we have had a few
I was praying for my life when it came right over me… It was a miracle we made it out because it was a lot stronger than that one….
This one was in northeast Lincoln, NE near Waverly. Glad they took what little cover they could there in the engine! Awesome footage.
Thanks. I was trying to figure out where in Omaha this was and nothing was adding up.
i wouldnt say “little” cover, cause the windows on the locos are bullet proof and the cabs are built to withstand head on collisions with other locos at 30 mph ( im pretty sure thats the speed its rated to)
I like how calm you guys were. I would have been freaking out!! 👾 Amazing video. Glad you are safe.
You guys gave us more Insights into how these powerful storms affect so much of the world on their paths.
Sooooo glad you guys are all safe afterwards. ❤
That was the calmest, “taking cover” while being nailed by a tornado I’ve ever seen! That was incredible.
Are they supposed to scream like a banshee and fling their arms around like the inflatables things?
That wasn’t the point.
At that moment he realized it was the only option. At that point you can either scream and cry or take it like a man and hope for the best. But yes he definitely handled it better than most.
With the exception of being underground, if you’re not safe in a locomotive then you’re not safe anywhere.
@@mfrost7890 That was exactly the point. We midwesterners take it in stride.
FreightTrain got back to the train yard and told all the other trains:
“Yeah… it really does sound like one of us.”
😂😂😂😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Good 1
Bravo Bravo

hahaa good one

Note to self, if I retire in Tornado Alley… I’m parking a United Pacific Railroad Engine in the backyard 🤙🏽
I moved to Kansas right in the middle of “Tornado Alley” and been here 9 years and never seen a tornado, they have happened around me but never where I live..
I’m glad the crew is safe and sound. Thanks for sharing your tornado experience.
Just how nonchalant he is “ehhh it knocked a car over”.
That is the coolest storm chasing rig ever ! 😂
“Yea we ain’t going nowhere” such a true statement! That tornado made a godforsaken mess! 😧
