    • Laws are passed by the legislature. They also passed the rules. Most state supreme courts don’t want the legislature setting their rules, so they stay out of these kinds of cases.

Plus there’s one word “notwithstanding” the legislature can add to any law that would exempt them. Not saying it’s good. It’s the way things are. You change that with elections, not lawsuits

    • Laws are passed by the legislature but don’t become law unless BOTH chambers agree and the governor signs. If the House unilaterally made laws, it would make sense that they can exempt themselves from them.

    • Mike Murray
You’re so fucking deluded. One second you love the police for shooting an unarmed black person because it “serves them right”, the next second you’re saying they are “ignorant marxist stormtroopers”. You’re a sheep. You’re a puppet. You’re a fucking tool, loser.

    • Personally, I don’t have anything against anyone recording meetings, but some people have phobias about it. And no legislator wants to be caught in a bad video moment (and everyone has one).

I spent years as a legislative reporter in Iowa and to this day the Iowa House doesn’t allow videographers to shoot (nor their own live video feed) the video tote board showing votes.

I’m told it’s a fear that a campaign ad will show someone switching votes or will show a vote one way when the written records shows another (which most legislatures allow-changing your vote in the official record, as long as it doesn’t affect the outcome of the vote).

Now, that said. If you want to change the law-you can’t do it via the courts. There’s a separation of powers thing and most states defer to the legislature to decide its own rules of decorum.

All that the legislature needs say is “if you want to record, get media credentials.” If the person in question had tried to get media credentials and was refused, then the court might step in if it found the rules to get credentialed too specious.

As I read the rules of the Texas legislature, to be a member of the credentialed media requires a statement from the editor or supervisor of the media outlet authorizing the person as someone there to report on the legislature.

What is not authorized is someone to be there to post a video on their personal YouTube or Facebook or Twitter feed for partisan personal purposes. You may not like that and you have the right to shake your fists all you want…but to change it, you will need to change the legislature.

Those are the realities. Now it’s up to you to change the course. Not to enrich a lawyer on a fruitless cause.

    • SandCrabNews but if your illegal doing crimes they award you 2o0k in californis…just joking…he did get money but CITIZENS HAVE NO RIGHTS…ONLY THE “POLITICAL CLASS”.

    • Limerickman YES…AND WITH RUBIO EUROPEAN LSW THST SILENCED EUROPE …THOUGHT CONTROL ON FAKED HATE SPEECH…HAS PASSED AND SENT TO THE HOUSE IT WON’T BE LONG TILL THEY WILL SLAP HER WITH HAYE SPEECH FINES AND SHE DOESN’T GET TO FACE HER ACCUSER EITHER. ..CALL UR CONGRESSMAN AND TELL THEM TO STOP SPECIAL INTEREST…EQUAL PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW.

    • SandCrabNews not only that but we the people own those buildings. They want to quote the constitution. Well that is how our forefathers set it up. Politicians of all kinds are scum. A lot of republicans are just as bad or worse than liberals. At least liberals are honest. These kind of republicans lie and steal from us and that’s why they don’t want meetings recorded. The truth about them will come out

    • Both parties answer to the same individuals. Whichever party has the most power at the moment is the one they use for most of their corruption. The sudden change to Trump made that too obvious, they had too little time to make the transition without it being super-obvious.

    • Not all republicans are alike. Texas politicians are a bit on the shady side. Not to single them out, though. Plenty of corruption to go around. The whole country is infected.

    • Alex Delarge Fascism is brought in using the democratic process. Once in they close the door on citizens to hide their crimes of legislatively criminalizing the common people and excluding their own people from prosecution.

    • Bruce Bell
Technically it’s not really democratic though because of corporate money. Corporations add an extra-powerful vote for a select few people. Lots of money.

    • Bruce Bell
All this talk of corporatism causing fascism is not a philosophical thing. Many of the people in charge of large corporations in America are actually, personally fascists. This is something nobody ever mentions.

    • They do use the democratic process to their personal advantage. Anyone who has studied political science for past 60 years knows that Mussolini is quoted “fascism is the best of worlds, business melded with government.”

Of course big business loves fascism. They tap directly into the tax payers through government policies written right into our law which protects them at your expense.

Business profits, politicians profit from campaign kick backs, bankers profit from printing fiat currency and taking interest payments from everyone. Fascism is a predatory microcosm which feeds on the middle and poor classes.

  1. We the people need to have a fund going, everyone pitch in a dallor. And pay to sue these public officials. With the money they win going to to the funds and tne people who do this should get some money for doing this. ( putting their Names and Necks on the line.) And we need to get these evil doers out of office. Sueing these public officials for money .

  2. Boy Texas doesn’t know their own Law? Hidden in their camber is unlawful illegal representation and they need to be held accountable so a Lawsuit is essential immediately! Judicial Watch needs to get involved for justice of free speech.

  3. Wow.  That sucks.BTW, Pete Santilli has been in jail for WELL OVER A YEAR, WITHOUT BAIL, for filming and reporting on the Bundy Ranch protests. How about some coverage on that?

    • +Far North Weaver You’re a damn liar and fool. Pete Santilli was acquitted on Oregon Standoff charges. He is in jail in Nevada awaiting trial with the Bundys for 2014 Bunkerville.

    • davekpghpa. agreed face and if you don’t mind me saying the list goes on for all the illegal government events like this one and the one you yourself mentioned.the problem that is key to solving this issue os that the basic model of opposition to political /governmental unlawfullness is that the unlawfully ones are focused or being focused to accomplish their agenda of wrong against us.like a series of umbrellas each larger one suppressing the rain from naturally falling in its natural course. YouTube and it’s professors the www ,alternative news journals .letters.etc.as tools to counter the bad way things are /have been going against the freedoms and rights for the populations of the United States ..all represent the opposite of being focused or focusing .thus.very little is ultimately accomplished.we are the fake news talking points =all the same .the political parties with a seemingly diverse rhetoric
amongst their sub groups..all ways ending up pnthe same page. We had anonymous …asange….and then YouTube but they broke up ,compromised or made ineffective the first two. and are working working hard to turn the Later into their most effective tool by. controlling the $$$ the most beneficial channels make. the YouTube that really matter need to have a coordinated approach to governmental crimes against humanity.w/o it no REAL PROGRESS will be made….only painfull efforts and sacrifices gone to waste.
They profile us while wee scream at them or point a fingers.they see us we can’t see them. they plan against us while we report what they have done.we find them while they stop us from funding what we need and want. They value each aspect of what they want to with priorities in well ordered configurations.we are on every thing in everyway all the time which is a mass disbursement of energy and a waste of energy. it is time the so called alternative way of things Learn from the enemy.
or prepare for apocalyptic survival conditions for all of us.
