UK election debate sees political parties clash over tax and immigration | BBC News

Leading figures from the seven UK political parties have taken part in the BBC election debate.

The politicians clashed over the economy, armed forces, NHS, immigration and climate policy.

The line-up included Conservative's Penny Mordaunt, Labour's Angela Rayner, Stephen Flynn from the Scottish National Party, Liberal Democrat's Daisy Cooper, Green Party's Carla Denyer, Plaid Cymru's Rhun ap Iorwerth and Nigel Farage of Reform UK.

Mordaunt said UK PM Rishi Sunak was "completely wrong" to leave D-Day events early – which the PM earlier admitted was a "mistake". Subscribe here:

  1. 10% population increase in 14 years, 6 million people apparently all DRs and nurses yet our NHS is struggling? The total NHS workforce is 1.5 million…Make it make sense.

    • @@johnpaulnash8144 And who’d have thought that our media and establishment based in London, a city with a 36% foreign born population would be on the side of mass migration? So many mysteries…

    • 4 billion in benefits paid to Eastern Europeans Boris took in 3 million Chinese Sunak 3000 from India per year 5.7 million Eastern Europeans babies 670,000 plus the third world allowed in

    • If we really did have 6 million Drs and nurses the NHS wouldn’t be in the mess it’s in. The truth is that a large proportion of nurses LEFT the profession after Brexit, many doctors too and overseas applications have dried up. Who can blame them, they’re hardly welcome . . . .

    • Let’s really be honest how many “natives” have pushed their kids to become doctors and nurses… Not many hence why you gotta import them. Ask yourself if your the problem.😅

  2. A live Telegraph online poll of who was up and who was down put Mr Farage far ahead throughout the 90-minute BBC show, with a net positivity rating more than twice as large as Ms Mordaunt’s.

  3. I’d like to know why you haven’t uploaded the full debate, please? When you upload ‘highlights’ it brings about the question of potential bias – whether intended or not. It would be appreciated if you could upload the full debate so that we, the British voters, can make more informed judgements on the candidates.

    • It’s the way our electoral system works, first past the post has made the Tories and Labour complacent, while smaller parties like the Liberals and Reform (the latter of which is polling within 2% of the Tories) get left with barely any seats despite achieving a higher vote share than the SNP

    • @@bigshipsit’s not our electoral system, it’s simply a monopoly that works for 2 parties so consistently that they have shared power for 100 years without any change apart from a name change once or twice
