The International Documentary Association has launched an online petition asking the Department of Justice to intervene when local police arrest or harass civilians who document and record police violence. Jose Lasalle, founder of Copwatch Patrol Unit, says these videos provide evidence of the “harassment and brutality” citizens face from police on a daily basis. As much as I want to support the Police departments, these videos make me sad and angry. I can’t wrap my head around why the courts don’t punish this type of behavior more openly. There are situations that are difficult to handle for sure but a lot of these incidents are just dudes with power that have gone out of control. Sad sad days when one man treats another this way.
