TeamCJ is a groundbreaking Citizen Journalism Project in Potchefstroom, North West Province, South Africa. In June 2014 Kreativmedia Hub started a Citizen Journalism initiative to empower ordinary people with the necessary skills and tools to report what is happening in their communities. We offer free weekend workshops and have trained about twenty aspiring journalists from a disadvantaged background. Many of TeamCJ’s reporters are unemployed and can’t afford the most basic tools which journalists need – computers, smart phones and internet access. Our crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo ( ) is intended to raise funds to provide citizen journalists with essential tools and resources.
