Baby-faced reporter mocked for his youthful looks but jokes he’s 52 | Colorful Life

A baby-faced journalist had to sidestep politics to discuss moisturisers on morning television after he was mocked for his youthful good looks.Political reporter Matt Doran was doing a live cross from Canberra to the ABC's News Breakfast program on Thursday when the topic of legislation suddenly changed to skin care. Co-host Ali Moore started the on-air banter by commenting on how she thought he looked good for his age, while joking about him being a work experience student.   'Matthew, I understand you have double maths this morning?', she said, to which he laughed and credited his flawless complexion to good skincare. 'It's all moisturising. I'm actually 52,' he told Moore and her co-host Michael Rowland.Clearly not 52, Doran said he'd received similar comments on social media and accused Rowland as being the source of the joke and snooping through his Twitter account.'Michael is trolling me. We had one viewer suggesting there are child labour laws being broken by allowing me to into the ABC studios this morning,' he said.   Share this article Share The co-hosts laughed and Rowland said he took Doran's accusation as a compliment.Rowland then read out another comment about Doran's boyish looks on air, saying that the praise was indeed from a viewer and not from him.'My husband and I both ex-teachers and we always remark on how well you are doing at work experience. Enjoy your youthful good looks.'The breakfast hosts laughed again, with Rowland saying: 'We now know the secret.'Moore chimed in by saying: 'keep up the moisturising Matthew, it's all good.' Doran is far from being an intern. A former law clerk, he has a bachelor's degree in law and journalism from University of South Australia. After joining ABC's newsroom as a cadet in 2013, he moved through the ranks before he landed his current role as a political reporter specialising in legal affairs.
